Honoring Our Past, Investing in Our Future: Celebrate Juneteenth Through Community Service and Support for the Central Children’s Home

Juneteenth is a time to celebrate freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of opportunity and equality. As communities across the nation gather to commemorate this historic occasion, it also provides an ideal opportunity for the Knights of Pythagoras to showcase the positive impact our program is making in the lives of young men.

We encourage all local Knights of Pythagoras councils to organize a community awareness campaign during Juneteenth weekend. Whether through participation in local celebrations, community service projects, informational booths, youth activities, or social media outreach, each council has an opportunity to share our mission of mentoring, leadership development, academic achievement, and community service.

By engaging with our communities, we can increase awareness of the Knights of Pythagoras, recruit future members and mentors, strengthen partnerships, and demonstrate our commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders.

To assist with your outreach efforts, Knights of Pythagoras literature and promotional materials are available. If your council needs additional materials, please contact the National Office or your Regional Director for assistance. You may also access resources through the Team App Document Section and the KOP Portal by selecting the Resources link.

As we honor the legacy of Juneteenth, let us also honor its spirit by investing in our youth and strengthening our communities through mentorship, education, and service.

Together, we can celebrate our history while inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.

Looking for a Way to Celebrate?

If your council is not participating in a local Juneteenth event, we encourage you to come out and support the 27th Central Children’s Home Day Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Central Children’s Home of North Carolina in Oxford, NC.

The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and will feature family-friendly activities, children’s games, gospel music, vendors, classic automobiles, food, and fellowship. More importantly, it is an opportunity to support an organization that has served children and families in North Carolina for generations.

Let’s continue the spirit of Juneteenth by celebrating freedom through service, community engagement, and investing in our youth. We hope to see many Knights of Pythagoras councils and families in attendance!
