NCKOP: Parent Clubs - Welcome Macedonia Parent Club #60
One of the greatest strengths of the North Carolina Order of the Knights of Pythagoras is the collective support that surrounds our young men. Our program is designed to build leadership, discipline, structure, and character but the success of that mission is greatly strengthened through the involvement of dedicated parents and guardians who reinforce these same values at home and within the community.
For many years, NCKOP has benefited from parent involvement and Parent Clubs across the jurisdiction. Although these clubs have existed and supported our councils for years, we are excited to share that Parent Clubs have now been formally established within our jurisdiction, creating a clear structure and consistent standards statewide.
Why Parent Clubs Matter
Parents and guardians bring tremendous value to our organization, including:
Supporting the growth and accountability of our Knights
Helping councils maintain strong participation and engagement
Assisting with activities, trips, scholarship events, and fundraisers
Strengthening communication between families and councils
Reinforcing the mission of NCKOP by helping develop young men into leaders
NCKOP is truly a partnership—between Knights, Mentors, Advisors, and families. When families are engaged, our Knights thrive.
Recognizing Our First Official Parent Club
Special Recognition
As we recognize Macedonia Parent Club #60, it is also important that we recognize our first two official Parent Club members:
✅ Miss. Alisha Clark
✅ Mrs. Tracy Stroman
Their connection with Macedonia Council #60 began well before they submitted their official applications. They have consistently shown dedication to our Knights and commitment to the mission of NCKOP through service such as:
Serving as trusted chaperones
Helping to organize activities and events
Supporting and assisting with fundraisers
Providing help in many other ways that strengthen the council
This is exactly the type of positive involvement we see from parents and guardians across our jurisdiction. Many of our parents are already doing this work, and we want to say clearly: we see it, we appreciate it, and we are thankful for it.
Why We Formalized the Process
Parent Clubs operate through a formal application process. The purpose is to ensure that any parent or guardian who will be working not only with their child (Knight), but also with other Knights, is properly screened and cleared of any issues that would preclude them from being around youth.
As with Brothers, this includes:
A background check (required)
A $25 background screening fee
A $25 annual Parent Club membership fee
This ensures official membership recognition and accountability. Parents will also receive official membership identification, and we are currently determining the best format (a membership card with an annual sticker is being considered).
How to Establish an Official Parent Club
Councils interested in establishing a Parent Club may follow this process:
Step 1: Lodge/Council Sponsorship Form
Complete the Lodge/Council Sponsorship Form, located in the Documents section in TeamApp.
Step 2: Approval & Activation
Once approved, the Parent Club will become officially active and will:
Be assigned the same number as the sponsoring Council
Assume the name of the sponsoring Council, followed by “Parent Club”
Example: Macedonia Parent Club #60
Step 3: Parent Membership Application & Background Screening
Any parent or guardian wishing to join will complete:
A membership application
A background screening form
Step 4: Entry on the Rolls & Membership Issued
Once the background screening is completed and approved:
The parent/guardian will be officially entered onto the rolls
Membership will be activated and linked to the sponsoring council
The parent will receive official membership recognition
We are excited about what this step represents for the growth and accountability of our jurisdiction. Formalized Parent Clubs strengthen our operations, create consistent standards across councils, and most importantly, enhance the support system surrounding our Knights.
To all parents and guardians across NCKOP: thank you for your continued support. Your contributions matter, and your partnership helps shape young men into leaders.
