Today, I attended the 27th Central Children’s Home Day Celebration in Oxford, North Carolina, where hundreds of community members, Masonic Brothers and Sisters, families, and friends gathered for a day of fellowship, entertainment, and celebration. The event was filled with an atmosphere of joy and unity as attendees enjoyed a wide variety of delicious food from local vendors, inspiring musical selections from gospel choirs, classic automobiles, children’s activities, and numerous opportunities to reconnect with friends and community partners. It was truly a wonderful way to celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth, reflecting on our shared history while embracing hope and opportunity for future generations. Carthage, North Carolina – Members of Macedonia Council and Parent Club No. 60, Knights of Pythagoras, proudly joined Brothers and Sisters from across District 23 of the Piedmont Region in celebrating St. John’s Day, one of the oldest and most meaningful traditions in Prince Hall Freemasonry. Observed on the Sunday nearest June 24, Devotional Day commemorates St. John the Baptist and serves as a time for Masons to gather in worship, reflect on their faith, and reaffirm their commitment to God, moral character, and service to humanity. While each Knight follows the teachings of his own faith tradition, the observance reminds us that we unite around the principles symbolized by; faith, integrity, and brotherly love. For the Knights of Pythagoras, Devotional Day is an obligatory observance, calling upon each Council to attend a local church service as a group and actively participate in worship. This tradition reinforces the organization’s commitment to developing young men of strong char...

Juneteenth is a time to celebrate freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of opportunity and equality. As communities across the nation gather to commemorate this historic occasion, it also provides an ideal opportunity for the Knights of Pythagoras to showcase the positive impact our program is making in the lives of young men. We encourage all local Knights of Pythagoras councils to organize a community awareness campaign during Juneteenth weekend. Whether through participation in local celebrations, community service projects, informational booths, youth activities, or social media outreach, each council has an opportunity to share our mission of mentoring, leadership development, academic achievement, and community service. By engaging with our communities, we can increase awareness of the Knights of Pythagoras, recruit future members and mentors, strengthen partnerships, and demonstrate our commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders. To assist with your outreach ...
