Ten Days That Shape Future Leaders: Understanding the Purpose Behind NCKOP’s Required Annual Observances
Brothers, Advisors, and Knights, The North Carolina Council Order of the Knights of Pythagoras reminds all councils of the ten special ceremonial and observance activities that every council is required to observe each year. These activities are outlined in the North Carolina Council Order of the Knights of Pythagoras Manual and serve as an important part of our program and mission.
To assist councils in planning and completing these observances, all ten observance days are included on the NCKOP Calendar within the 360 NCKOP Portal. These calendar reminders are provided to help ensure each council remains aware of upcoming observances and has adequate time to plan meaningful activities.
As your councils participate in these observances throughout the year, we encourage you to take photographs and share them with us. We would love the opportunity to highlight and showcase the outstanding work being done by our Knights and councils across the jurisdiction.
More importantly, we want to remind everyone why these observances exist. They are much more than dates on a calendar or activities to complete. Each observance is intentionally designed to build character, strengthen citizenship, foster a sense of community, develop leadership, promote education, encourage faith and family values, and instill a spirit of service to others.
Whether participating in Parent's Day, Educational Day, Patriot's Day, Earth Day, Feed the Hungry Day, or any of our other observances, our Knights are learning lessons that will help shape them into responsible leaders and productive citizens. These experiences provide opportunities for our youth to serve others, appreciate their families, understand their communities, and develop the values necessary for success in life.
Our youth are the future, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure these principles are instilled in them. By faithfully observing these activities, we are helping fulfill our mission of "Building Leaders for Tomorrow."
Thank you for your continued dedication to the Knights of Pythagoras and for investing in the lives of our young men. We look forward to seeing and sharing the great work taking place across North Carolina.
