Youth Rising: Confidence, Talent, and Unity at Western Region Youth Day

Image
Saturday March 14th, 2026, Sister Beverly Richardson, Grand Youth Directress, and I had the pleasure of joining the Western Region for their annual Regional Youth Day held at Rameses Temple in Charlotte, NC. It was truly an inspiring morning as Knights from throughout the region gathered to showcase their talents while enjoying fellowship with one another. Several of the young men and young ladies stepped forward with confidence to highlight their abilities—some shared artwork, others recited poetry, one Knight presented on his understanding of 3D animation, and another spoke about his freestyle swimming ability. It is always impressive to see these young people express themselves and demonstrate the confidence they are developing through their talents and knowledge. The Gleaners also added to the energy of the event through dance, poetry, and song, helping make the morning even more special. Equally important were the youth who may not have performed but were present to support a...

The event was very well attended and served as a meaningful celebration of the legacy, impact, and continued influence of Black history in our communities. The young men of Council #204 did an exceptional job sharing reflections on what Black history means to them and how it influences the values, character, and aspirations they strive to live out each day. Their presentations were thoughtful, inspiring, and a reminder that the next generation of leaders is already preparing to make a difference. A special thank you to Senior Advisor Bruce Johnson for his leadership and dedication in organizing such an impactful program for the Knights and the community. Celebrate and Learn; You Are History in the Making

Image
Black History Month is a powerful reminder that history is not only something we study — it is something we live, shape, and carry forward each day. This month, we encourage each of you to celebrate the achievements, sacrifices, and contributions of those who came before us. Take pride in the legacy of leadership, resilience, and excellence that continues to inspire our communities. We also challenge you to learn — not just the well-known stories, but the lessons behind them. Seek knowledge about the trailblazers, innovators, and everyday heroes whose courage and determination paved the way for opportunities we have today. When you learn your history, you better understand your purpose. Most importantly, remember that you are not only students of history — you have the power to create it. Through your character, service, scholarship, and leadership, you are writing the next chapter. The choices you make, the goals you pursue, and the way you uplift others will define...
