Youth Rising: Confidence, Talent, and Unity at Western Region Youth Day

Saturday March 14th, 2026, Sister Beverly Richardson, Grand Youth Directress, and I had the pleasure of joining the Western Region for their annual Regional Youth Day held at Rameses Temple in Charlotte, NC. It was truly an inspiring morning as Knights from throughout the region gathered to showcase their talents while enjoying fellowship with one another.

Several of the young men and young ladies stepped forward with confidence to highlight their abilities—some shared artwork, others recited poetry, one Knight presented on his understanding of 3D animation, and another spoke about his freestyle swimming ability. It is always impressive to see these young people express themselves and demonstrate the confidence they are developing through their talents and knowledge.

The Gleaners also added to the energy of the event through dance, poetry, and song, helping make the morning even more special.

Equally important were the youth who may not have performed but were present to support and encourage others. Their presence reminds us that leadership is not always about being on stage; sometimes it is about standing beside one another, offering encouragement, learning from the moment, and strengthening the bond of brotherhood.

We would also like to thank Rameses Temple for their continued support of the youth by opening the doors of their facility for this event. Special thanks as well to the brothers of Grier Heights Lodge who provided the food, brought out the grills, and cooked for everyone. Your willingness to serve helps create a welcoming environment where our youth can gather, fellowship, and grow.

I would also like to recognize the leadership of the Western Region: Assistant Grand Knight Director Andrew Gibson, Assistant Directors Lockett and Burgess, and Regional Gleaner Co-Chairs Redfern and Broadway. Your leadership continues to shine through your commitment to supporting our youth and organizing meaningful events throughout the region.

Overall, it was a wonderful morning filled with talent, fellowship, and inspiration. Seeing these young people confidently share their gifts and support one another reminds us of the bright future ahead and the importance of continuing to invest in our youth.
